Varnith Negi, Chief Executive Officer of  Kodagu Zilla Panchyat (ZP)  speaking at a programme of anti-day on  world child labour system which was organised by District Administration, Kodagu ZP District Legal Services Authority, Labour Department, District Child Labour Planning Society, Women and Child Development Department, School Education and Literacy Department, Social Welfare Department, Police Department, Advocates Association organisation  at Gandhi Bhavan, Madikeri  recently  said that child labour system is bad and more emphasis should be given on education of children.

He also opined that Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) should join hands with the government to eradicate child labour and added that then only the child labour can be eradicated.

Speaking further he said that the government is providing free education to all children under the age of 14 years and added that children should make use of government residential schools which are making a good name these days and children who have problems in getting education should make use of such opportunities.

Speaking on the occasion, Dodde Gowda, Field Education Officer said that forcing children under 14 years to work will hamper the intellectual development of children.  He also said that compulsory education is   very essential   to develop good behaviour and good personality among children and everyone should focus on that.

Gowda further said that children should not be forced to work due to poverty and ignorance of parents, no matter how poor the children are but they should be educated and added that this can lead towards building up a healthy society and as well as a strong nation. 

S L Harshvardhan, Member Secretary and Labour Officer of Child Labor Planning Society, gave oath to all on the occasion of Anti-Child Labor Day.

He also suggested not to use any product which were made with child labor and added that there must be concern among all that child labor must not be used in their establishments.  

Yaladalu Manoj Bopaiah, an advocate who participated in the program, said that the nation is taking strong steps to eliminate child labor and more effective measures should be taken in that regard in our country. He also said that children under the age of 14 should not be deprived of education. Manoj Bopaiah suggested that health and education of children is the main concern and should be given top priority.

Jayalakshmi, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sundarraj, Assistant Commissioner  Vinayak K. Narvade, Deputy Director Pre-Graduate Education Department Puttaraju, Integrated Tribal Planning Officer S. Honnegowda, Women and Child Development Department Deputy Director Nataraju, Taluk Labor Officer M MYatnatti, District Child Labor Project Society Project Director R. Sheeraz Ahmed and others were present on the occasion.
