A man steals his aunt’s gold  jewelry wearing a burqua

Accused Kolumanda Harris, owner of a tea shop in Virajpet-Ammathi Road (Aimangala village), member of the management board of the mosque, came in disguise wearing a burqa and stole his aunt’s gold jewellery from her neck while she was alone in her home.

It has been reported that the accused Harris wore a burkha and holding an umbrella went into his brother Ibrahim’s house, which is in front of the KSRTC bus station in Virajpet town and where his 97-year-old aunt was staying and snatched the gold chain, weighing 16 grams, from her neck, the police said.

A couple of days after the crime, Harris was arrested by the police through footage of CCTV and sent him to jail. Accused Harris has revealed during the investigation that he bought two gold rings for his granddaughter with the money after he sold the gold to a gold jewellery shop in Iriti. Police also said that this is the first time that a man wearing a burqa has committed a robbery in a cinematic manner in Virajpet.
