Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha Constituency BJP candidate Yaduveer Wodeyar speaking at the district convention of the BJP Backward Classes Morcha which was recently held at Cauvery Hall, Madikeri as chief guest said that “I am lucky to have a chance to contest from Cauvery Nadu (Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha Constituency) and if given an opportunity to serve, I would make sincere efforts to develop the rich culture, heritage and environment of this beautiful place”
Speaking further he said that even though earlier Kodagu did not merge with Mysore state since from his childhood, he has visited various places in Kodagu including Nagarhole, Brahmagiri and experienced the beauty of the nature here and has an inseparable relationship with Kodagu.
He further said that Kodagu is a land with a heroic heritage and given brave soldiers to the Indian Army like Field Marshal K.M.Cariappa, General K.S.Thimayya, several lieutenant generals and described Kodagu as a blessed land. He assured that he will be with people of Kodagu and make all efforts in the task of preserving beautiful environment and passing on the cultural heritage to the next generation. He also said that there is a need to find a permanent solution to the man and animal conflict in Kodagu and assured that development works along with environmental protection is the need of the hour.
Speaking on the occasion Former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Ashwath Narayan said that the BJP has been taking necessary steps for the all-round development of the OBC backward minority community and accused the Congress party of limiting the development of backward and alleged that the Congress government till now has not contributed anything to the backward classes. BJP has given equal opportunities to all classes and said that 38% of the party’s Lok Sabha members are from backward classes, he added.
Speaking further he said that this time the party has given chance to Yaduveer, who is a King of Mysore dynasty, to contest the current Mysore-Kodagu constituency. As we all know that the kings of the Wodeyar dynasty of Mysore have endeared themselves to the people through their
pro-people policies. For the first time in the entire country, an attempt was made to give equal rights to people of all section of society in the state of Mysore and requested people of Kodagu to vote in favor of Yaduvir and make him win with huge majority, he added
Former minister Ramdas speaking on the occasion said that Kodagu has very good relationship with the Royal family of Mysore. Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar started the Kodagu Coffee Processing Center and it has been a hundred years today and added that he has worked continuously for the development of Kodagu. Before independence, there were 586 royal dynasties ruling the entire country. In such a situation, the kings of Mysore described it as the first state to merge with the Republic of India.
Speaking on the occasion former MLA K G Bopaiah (KGB) said that since Yaduvir Wodeyar was announced as the BJP candidate, a systematic conspiracy has started and requested the party workers and the people of the district not to listen to any rumors and added that elections are being held for the security of the country and Modi should become the prime minister again to stop those who shout slogans in favor of the enemy country.
Former MLA of Madikeri Constituency Appachu Ranjan said that last time in Kodagu Mysore Constituency, Pratap Singh had won by a margin of one and a half lakh votes. This time Yaduveer should win by a margin of more than 2 lakh votes.Â
Speaking further he said that the people of Kodagu are at the forefront in the defense of the country and the people of Kodagu have contributed to the country in all fields including sports. In such a situation, the people of Kodagu should be treated with respect when they come to the elected representatives. Once upon a time India was dependent on other countries. But today, because of Narendra Modi’s development work, it is a model for other countries, and the workers should take the task of delivering BJP’s contribution to every house, he added.

On the occasion, Yaduveer was honored by the district BJP and BJP Backward Classes Morcha by giving him the traditional Odikatti of Kodagu and a turban.
