Portrait of Basavanna should be installed in government office – DC

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja speaking after unveiling the portrait of Basavanna at a programme organised by the District Administration, the Zilla Panchayat and the Department of Kannada and Culture at Gandhi Bhavana at Madikeri recently said that portraits of Basavanna should be installed in all government offices mandatorily. He said that religious leaders like Buddha, Basavanna propagated equality in society. Basavanna had contributed through Vachanas and strove hard to bring in reforms in society. The preachings of Basavanna are relevant even today, he added.
