Madikeri MLA Dr. Manthar Gowda has sanctioned 3 lakh from his MLA Development Fund for the development of the park and surroundings of the statue of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of independent India, located in the city.
During his visit to Madikeri today, Rajeev Gandhi Panchayat Raj Organisation District President Tennira Maina and nominated member of the Madikeri City Municipal Council Mandira Sada Muddappa submitted an estimate proposal related to the development works to the MLA. Dr. Manthar Gowda immediately announced the grant.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manthar Gowda said that Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa and General K.S. Thimayya were two of the greatest military leaders the nation has ever seen, and it is the duty of every Indian to honour their achievements. He assured that he would always extend his full support to every programme related to these great leaders.
MUDA President Rajesh Ellappa, Madikeri City Congress President Prakash Acharya, and other prominent personalities were present along with the MLA on the occasion.
