The Municipal Commissioner of Madikeri CMC has issued a notice to the concerned individuals to remove unauthorized temporary sheds constructed on property of Survey No.
53/6 on the right side at chain km 1.00 of National Highway-275.
The Kodagu Development Committee had filed a complaint with the Madikeri District Collector on September 11, 2025, regarding the construction of commercial sheds on the road without municipal approval.
A letter of understanding was previously issued for the removal of these sheds, which violated the approved construction plan. However, the sheds continue to be used for commercial purposes, in contravention of Sections 187 and 256 of the Karnataka Municipal Councils Act.
Municipal Commissioners PonnachettiraDechamma Cariappa, Ponnachettira Cariappa Vinay, and Sonnabettira Cariappa Thammaiah have stated that if the sheds are not removed within seven days, and written confirmation along with photographs is not provided to the office, legal action will be taken. The cost of removing unauthorized sheds will also be recovered from the violators as arrears.
