The 8th Annual Women’s Dasara has been organized by the Madikeri Town Dasara Cultural Committee and will be held on September 28.
Committee President Kudekal Santhosh announced that various competitions have been planned for women from across the district.
As part of the Women’s Dasara celebrations, cultural programmes and competitions for women will be conducted at the Kalasambhram Hall in Gandhi Maidan, Madikeri. The event is being organized in association with the Madikeri Dasara Committee, Madikeri Municipal Council President and members, and the District Women and Child Development Department.
Competitions include: Mehndi application, Indian traditional dress competition, Hairstyling, Estimating the exact price of a saree, Blindfolded makeup, Balloon glass competition, “Bomb in the city” game, Lakeside game, Eating biscuits placed on the forehead, Running with a balloon tied to the leg, Folk dance, Valaga dance (with two categories: women under 60 years, and women above 60 years), Quiz competitions related to Dasara.
Participants are required to bring their own materials for the makeup, hairstyle, and mehndi competitions. Registration for all events will be open on Women’s Dasara Day itself, and participants may register at the venue by 9:00 a.m.
Sales Outlets:
Stalls will be set up for the display and sale of products made by women, along with other products and plants related to Women’s Dasara. A total of 15 stalls will be available. Interested participants may contact Sabita at 8660180251 or Savita at 9483785810.
At the preparatory meeting for the celebrations, the following were present: Municipal Council and City Dasara Committee President P. Kalavathi, Cultural Committee President Santosh, Dasara Committee Treasurer Sabita, Assistant Child Development Project Officer C.P. Savita Kirtan from the Kodagu District Women and Child Development Department, Municipal Council members Usha Kaverappa and Chitravathi, Kudekal Savita (last year’s Women’s Dasara coordinator), Cultural Committee members Anjali Ashok, Kedana Pragati, Baleada Divya Mandappa, Hema Ajith, Women’s Dasara members Pavithra Girish, Prema, Jashmita, and Netra.
