Students should identify their strengths, interests and goals and shape their future accordingly, said Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College Principal Major Prof. Raghava B.
A workshop on ‘Career Opportunities in Government Sector and Civil Services’ was held at the college seminar hall recently. The programme was organised by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa College, Madikeri, Kodagu University, in collaboration with Saraswat IAS/KAS Academy, Mysore.
Dr. Soumya K., Coordinator of the IQAC, welcomed the gathering and explained the purpose and importance of the workshop. College Principal Major Prof. Raghava B. presided over the programme. Prof. Chandrashekaran G., a renowned GMAT trainer in Karnataka and former Principal of RIMSE, was the chief guest.
Dr. Vasanth Kumar N., Founder and Director of Saraswat IAS/KAS Academy, Mysore, and Narasimha Murthy, a resource person in History and the Constitution, participated in the workshop.
Delivering the presidential address, Major Prof. Raghava B. said that in today’s highly competitive era, success cannot be achieved merely through a degree or knowledge gained from textbooks. Students should develop the ability to transform knowledge into skills, skills into abilities and abilities into achievements.
He said that success in competitive examinations requires time management, creative thinking, self-confidence, communication skills and problem-solving abilities, in addition to subject knowledge. He advised students not to view problems as obstacles, but to treat them as opportunities to test their abilities. Continuous study, daily reading, awareness of current affairs, general knowledge, analytical thinking and the proper use of time are important while preparing for competitive examinations. He said that every student should have a clear career goal and prepare an appropriate study plan to achieve it.Students should not fear failure but should develop the attitude of analysing the reasons for failure and trying again with better preparation. He called upon students to adopt the principle that “Consistency is the key to success” in their lives. Â Quoting former President and renowned scientist Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who said, “You have to dream before your dreams can come true,” he said that dreaming is the first step towards success. Dreams can become reality only when they are transformed into goals and pursued through hard work.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr. Shringar K.S. of the Department of Political Science delivered the vote of thanks. Appreciation was extended to everyone who contributed to the success of the programme, particularly Saraswat IAS/KAS Academy, Mysore.
