A meeting of officials was recently held in the office of Forest Minister Eshwara B. Khandre under the leadership of Kodagu District In-charge Minister N.S. Bosaraju. Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor and Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna and Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda also participated.
Speaking at the meeting, MLA A.S. Ponnanna emphasized that the property rights of Jamma Malai tenants must be protected, as the court had already delivered its verdict. He urged that the matter be acted upon expeditiously. The Minister instructed officials to immediately submit a proposal to the government. He further stressed that a joint survey of C&D land should be conducted to provide justice to tenants.

The meeting also raised concerns over rising human casualties due to frequent elephant and tiger attacks in Kodagu. Farmers continue to face significant crop losses caused by wild animals. It was proposed that the Forest Department take urgent steps to relocate tigers and elephants to prevent further loss of life.
Minister Eshwara B. Khandre directed officials to act immediately to safeguard human lives, build confidence among villagers, and conduct continuous awareness visits. Senior Forest Department officials and office bearers of the Jamma Malai Association attended the meeting.
