The member of Codava National Council (CNC) began their series of awareness programmes recently demanding exclusive representation for indigenous Kodavas in Parliament and the state Assembly on the lines of ‘Sangha’ virtual, intangible (invisible) constituency of Sikkim or in the alternative, carve exclusive Codava Constituency for indigenous Kodavas,
The CNC members formed a human chain after offering a special pooja at Talacauvery.
Speaking on the occasion CNC president N U Nachappa said that their demands should be considered during the delimitation of constituencies in 2026. Indigenous Kodavas had representation in the Constituent Assembly of India from 1946 to 1950. After the merger of Coorg with Karnatakathe Kodavas lost their representation in all respect. “We will hold human chains and meetings to create awareness among people,” he added.
