War veterans of tri services of 1971 Indo-Pakistan war visit Kodagu

A unique group of Visitors are arriving at Madikeri on 15 Nov 24. The group consists of Defence War Veterans of 1971. It is a Tri Service Group of Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Airforce. About 40 Officers who went to battle to East Pakistan to Liberate and create a new nation called Bangladesh along with their spouses will visit Madikeri/Kodagu between 15 Nov 24 and 17 Nov 24. This group is an off shoot of the larger group visiting Mysore between 12 Nov 24 and 14 Nov 24.

They will be staying at The Fort Mercara and Red Bricks Inn Mercara and the owners of these hotels have graciously agreed to accommodate these war veterans and their spouses at a concessional rate for 3 days.

Apart from enjoying the natural beauty of Kodagu, they would be visiting a coffee estate to enrich their experience of sipping coffee and will have a brief exposure to the traditional culture of Kodavas. During their stay they would be visiting Gen Thimayya Memorial Museum, Fort, Omkareshwar Temple and other points of interest.

Air Marshal Nanda Cariappa and Mrs Cariappa will grace the dinner on 15 Nov 24 with the Defence Veterans.

The Defence Veterans express their gratitude for the warmth shown by Madikeri and Kodagu in anticipation, informed Lt. Col (Retd) B.G. V. Kumar in a press release. .
