Children unveil extraordinary talent at “Children’s Dasara” festival

In order to shed light on the immense talent inherent in children beyond curricular activities, the “Children’s Dasara” organised at Gandhi Maidan as a part of Madikeri Dasara Janotsava was a success with the enthusiastic participation of hundreds of children, the extraordinary talent of the children left the onlookers amazed. The Children’s Dasara celebration was organised by Madikeri Rotary Misty Hills in association with Madikeri Dasara Committee, Dasara Cultural Committees and was inaugurated by Kodagu DeputyCommissioner (DC) Venkat Raja by lighting the lamp in the presence of children and dignitaries. Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that apart from the talent show and activities of the children being an inspiration to us, there is a lot to learn from them and opined that it will not only create awareness among the children about the business transactions and money transactions but it will help a lot in their future life with self-esteem.

As a part of Makkala Dasara, MakkalaSanthe was also organised on the occasion. During the fair, children were seen bargaining with customers, offering discounts on the fixed prices to encourage sales. This high-lighted their business tactics and active participation. Children who turned into vendors for a day, and wooed customers to buy vegetables, leafy greens, fruits and eatables. A wide variety of greens leaves ash gourd, ridge gourd, cucumber, and various other vegetables were sold. Fruits like bananas, oranges, sapota and apples were also kept for sale by children.

Devanira Kiran, Assistant Governor of Rotary Organisation, said that children’s festival is a good platform for children’s talent show. Prakash Acharya, working President of Dussehra Committee, said that the children’s festival is coming up as an inspiring program for children, while Ponnachan Madhu Sudan, president of Rotary Misty Hills expressed his appreciation that year after year, children’s festival is attracting more number children.

Speaking on the occasion Dasara Cultural Committee President Anil H.T. informed that more than 680 children from different parts of the district have registered for this children’s festival and are involved in various activities. He also said that more than 30 children participated in the clay modelling section. Former Chairperson of the Madikeri CMC  Anitha Poovaiah, General Secretary of the Dasara Committee Rajesh Yallappa, Treasurer Arun Shetty, District information officer Chinnaswamy participated in the programme.
