Madikeri Dasara Committee and Sports Committee and Kodagu Press Club jointly held a Table Tennis, Carrom and Chess tournaments on the occasion of Madikeri Dasara for journalists recently at the Kodagu Pathrika Bhavan, Madikeri.
Speaking on the occasion, Madikeri Dasara Sports Committee President Pradeep Karkera, who inaugurated the sports event, said that a taluk-level road race and an open football tournament have already going on and somemore competitionsare also under consideration by Madikeri Dasara sports committee. Â Similarly, various sports events are organized for journalists in tabletennis, chess and carrom tournament.
Kodagu District Working Journalists’ Association President of B R Savita Rai said that in order to bring everyone together in Dasara festival sports events are held during Dasara by the Dasara Sports Committee. She further said that journalists who are under work pressure daily will get relief by participation in sports and will have break in their busy schedule.
On this occasion, Press Club President Bollajira B. Ayyappa, General Secretary Adarsh Adkalegar, Dasara Sports Committee member Surjith and journalists from different parts of the Kodagu participated. Press Club Member Anand Kodagu narrated the programme Senior Vice President Naveen D’Souza welcomed the gathering and Member Rakesh proposed the vote of thanks

Savita Rai won the first place in women’s singles carrom, while Ukkeranda Vishma Pemmaiah won the second position.
In T T Singles, Udiyanda Jayanthi won the first place while Savita Rai won the second place
S A Rizwan Hussain won first place while K L Varun won second place in the men’s chess tournament.
Naveen D’Souza won the first place and Vishwa Kumburuwon the men’s carrom singles category, while Rejit Kumar and Vishwa Kumburu won the first place, Shivraj and Manjunath won 2nd place in the carrom doubles category.
In men’s TT singles tournament Gopal Somaiah won the first place while
S Ganesh Kumar of Coffeland News won the second placeand in doubles category, S. Ganesh Kumar of Coffeeland News and Allaranda Vittala Nanjappa won the first place while Vinod Moodagadde and Diwakar won the second place.
