The Kodagu District Administration, Zilla Panchayat (ZP), Kannada and Culture Department jointly celebrated Santakavi Sarvajna and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti meaningfully at Gandhi Bhawan, Madikeri recently.
Speaking after laying flowers on the portrait of Sant Kavi Sarvajna and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Assistant Commissioner VinayakNarvade said that the saint poet and great visionary poet Kavi Sarvajna became a household name by writing “Thripadi” in Kannada.
He also said that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was born in Shivneri village near Pune in Maharashtra and fought for the nation building of India and added that both Kavi Sarvajna and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj worked hard for the betterment of the people.
Vinayak Narvade opined that the life messages of all these gentlemen should be followed in our day-to-day life.
Speaking on the occasion Venkata Nayak, a teacher of Hebbale Pre-Unversity College, said that poet Sarvajna was born in Hirekerur, Ambalur, Haveri district. Kavi Sarvajna wrote more than a thousand tripadis. Venkat Nayak said that his writings are relevant even today. Sarvajna has created wonderful tripadis in a way that common people can understand. Kavi Sarvajna’s poems should be told to the children. Kavi Sarvajna has contributed immensely to the Kannada literature. He also said that Sarvajna has created awareness through rationality and science through his tripadi lines, which is a very rare, he added
Venkata Nayak, also informed that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has made his own impact in the nation and worked hard for the development of the society. In the 17th century, Shivaji was ruling East India.
Speaking on the occasion K P Dinesh, District President of Kulala /Kumbara Pottery Makers Association said that everyone should know the ideas of Kavi Sarvajna and Chhatrapati Shivaji.
The district president of Maratha Samaj S.R.Arun Rao said that the messages given by Kavi Sarvajna and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj should be known to the society. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj emphasized on equal opportunities and protection for women. He said that Shivaji Maharaj was the ruler of the Hindu empire. Kushalappa, Chandrasekhar, Damodara, former president of KumbaraKulala Sangh, Nanaiya were present on the occasion.
