A 36-year- old first division assistant, identified as Prajwal working at the Tahsildar’s office, committed suicide by consuming poison.
Prajwal’s wife B J Shruthi in her complaint, has alleged that her husband attempted suicide on September 10, owing to the harassment by Tahsildar Praveen and Shirastedar Gururaj. He was shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru for treatment. However, he failed to respond to the treatment and died on Saturday.
Shruthi has alleged that her husband was under pressure at the workplace for the past six months.
A case has been registered at the Madikeri town station.
On the other hand, Tahsildar Praveen has also filed a police complaint accusing Prajwal of forging his signature.
The tahsildar said that On September 10, a bill was returned from the treasury stating that his signature was not matching. Soon after that, Prajwal, who appeared distressed, disappeared from the office. Later, it was found out that he had consumed poison. Our staff admitted him to the hospital. A report was submitted to the deputy commissioner on September 11 regarding the forgery of the signature. “After the bill was returned, we neither questioned Prajwal, nor was there any work pressure on him. All the allegations are far from truth”
