District in-charge Minister, Revenue Minister visit rain damaged areas

N S Bosaraju, Kodagu District in charge Minister, Krishna Bairegowda, Revenue Minister Dr. Mantar Gowda, MLA visited the rain damaged areas of Kodagu district recently.

After going to Attoor village near Harangi in Kushalanagar taluk, the two ministers gave assurance to the affected families after seeing their housesbeing damaged due to heavy rain. 

The government will provide necessary relief and build a house at a suitable place and no one should be worried said therevenue minister andrequested them to take shelter in the relief centre for the time being.   

The minister said that avoiding mishaps during monsoons is very difficult and added that we have to focus mainly on saving lives and properties of innocent people.

Later, they visited the care centre which was opened in the primary school of Valnur Tyagattur village and enquired about the facilities, health conditions and other issues of the victims. 

Speaking on the occasion revenue minister said that due to high rainfall in July, more precautions should be taken in the month of August, there may be high rainfall and landslide may occur. It is very important that the people of the flood expected and landslide prone areas are better shifted to the safer zone or care centre.  Minister advised people on the occasion that if you save your life, you can do something in the future and everyone should take precautions about this.

The people who were staying in the care centres should focus on their health first and all basic facilities will be provided in the care centre. Kodagu district in-charge minister and revenue minister assured that if there are any problems, it should be brought to the attention of the tahsildar or district administration. 

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda said that the government will provide necessary infrastructure to the rain victims and no one should be worried regarding it. Government is always ready to help rain effected people, he added.

Speaking to reporters after visiting rain effected places, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda informed that NDRF and SDRF civil police teams have been deployed in Kodagu district as a precautionary measure and added that the government has always responded with the district administration whatever the help needed.

Minister further informed that there has been a lot of loss including damage to roads, power transformers and poles, and crop damage due to heavy rains in the district and as well as other parts of the state also.

The GSI Technical Institute has studiedthe land slide areas in Kodagu and reported measures that has to be taken in the hill-collapsed area in Kodagu district and accordingly Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has allocated Rs 100 crore to carry out the necessary works in the hill and landslide areas. 

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Venkat Raja, District Superintendent of Police (SP) K. Ramarajan, Assistant Commissioner Vinayak  Narvade, Additional Superintendent of Police Sundarraj, Tashildar Kiran Gouraiah, Kushalanagar Taluk Guarantee Implementation Committee Chairman V.P. Sashidhar, Kushalanagar Town Development Authority Chairman, KDP Member Sunitha, Kushalanagar Municipality Chief Executive Officer Krishna Prasad and others were present on the occasion.
