Retired Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Somanna, who served in the Police Department for 33 years with an unblemished record, has been honoured with the ‘Retirement Appreciation Award’ by Manaviyathe Charitable Trust in recognition of his dedicated service, integrity and humanitarian values.
The felicitation ceremony was held at the Trust’s office under the leadership of its Founder-President, Shivakumar Hootagalli. Somanna was honoured for his honest, public-friendly approach to policing and wished a happy and fulfilling retired life.
Head Constable H.R. Ganesh, a member of the Police Department who is also associated with the Trust’s Volunteer Force, recalled his 15 years of working alongside Somanna. He praised Somanna’s dedication to duty, compassion, humility and humanitarian outlook, describing him as an inspiration to others.
Advocate Monalisa Pattada, Head of the Trust’s Legal Cell, said the association of individuals with such high human values was a source of strength to the organisation. She added that the Trust would continue to organise programmes to recognise and honour those engaged in public service.
Presiding over the function, Hootagalli said it was a matter of pride for the Trust to have people of integrity and character associated with it. He noted that they had joined the organisation out of love, trust, compassion and harmony, without expecting anything in return. The Trust would continue to encourage and support dedicated public servants, he added.
Sowmya Shree of Elane Hosakote, Treasurer and Kodagu In-charge of the Trust, also attended the programme and extended her best wishes to Somanna. She said the Trust recognised and honoured people from all sections of society without discrimination based on caste or religion.
Volunteers and members of the public, including Vinay Thakur, Satandar and Saroj, were present.
