A paddy-planting programme was held on the premises of the historic Sri Omkareshwara Temple under the leadership of the Omkareshwara Temple Management Committee, in association with the Kodagu Janapada Parishad. Puja and prayers were offered to Omkareshwara and Mother Earth, following which paddy were planted. Speaking on the occasion, Temple Management Committee President Chummi Devaiah said paddy planting on the premises of Omkareshwara premises has traditionally been undertaken from long time for Hutari festival, with various organisations participating in the initiative.
Kodagu Janapada Parishad President B.G. Anantha Shayana said worship of the Earth has been practised since ancient times. He said that Mother Earth, when worshipped with devotion, blesses people with prosperity.
Kodagu Janapada Parishad Vice President Shobha Subbaiah sang a prayer song.
