Awareness on Child Labour Act: Inspections Conducted at Various Places

Inspections were conducted at various shops, commercial establishments and construction sites in the taluk under the Child and Adolescent Labour Act to create awareness about the prevention and elimination of child labour.

Inspections were conducted in Madikeri, Makeri, Hakathur, Moornadu, Bavali, Parane, Vatekadu and Nariyandada-Cheyyandane areas.

During the inspections, various commercial establishments and construction sites, including hotels, grocery stores, bars and restaurants, coffee and tea canteens, and shops selling household and daily necessities, were visited. Owners of the shops and establishments were informed about the Child and Adolescent Labour Act and the harmful effects of child labour. Awareness pamphlets relating to the Act were distributed, and self-declaration letters were obtained from the establishments stating that child labourers would not be employed.

The inspection and awareness program was attended by M.M. Yathnatti, Senior Labor Inspector of Madikeri Circle and Labor Officer (In-charge) of Kodagu Sub-Division, R. Shiraj Ahmed, Project Director of District Child Labor Planning Society, and Zarina, Data Entry Operator.
