Ganja Sale: Five Assam-origin workers arrested

Gonikoppa police have arrested five persons from Assam on charges of allegedly selling ganja.

Acting on information that workers from Assam were allegedly selling ganja at an estate in Attur village of Ponnampet taluk, police conducted a raid and seized 6 kg 950 grams of ganja.

The arrested persons have been identified as Ajat Ali (25), Noor Haq (23), Ajitali (24), Asadol Haq (34) and Asatullah Haq (25), all from Mangal Dohi taluk of Darrang district in Assam.

Virajpet Sub-Division DySP Mahesh Kumar S., Gonikoppa CPI Shivaraj R. Mudol, PSI Kalegowda, PSI Venkatesh of the Investigation Department, ASI P.T. Srinivas and staff members Mahendra, Girish, N.S. Lokesh, Satish, Shubham, Raghu, Bharat and driver Balappa participated in the operation.    District Superintendent of Police R.N. Bindumani commended the officers and staff for their efforts in identifying and apprehending the accused.
