On the directions of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, District Minister P.M. Narendraswamy, who arrived in Kodagu district on Wednesday to assess the drought and heavy rainfall situation, visited the Harangi reservoir along with Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda, District Collector J. Somashekar and officials from various departments.
The minister received information from Irrigation Department engineers regarding the reservoir’s water level, inflow and outflow, and the amount of rainfall recorded in the catchment area.
Speaking to reporters, the minister said he would personally visit and assess the reasons for the delayed onset of the monsoon in the Western Ghats and Kodagu district and submit a report to the government.
MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda, Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee District President Dharmaja Uthappa, Taluk President V.P. Shashidhar, Chief K.P. Chandrakala, District Collector S.J. Somashekar, GP CEO Anand Prakash Meena and others were present.
