In view of the increasing number of cybercrime cases, Kodagu District Superintendent of Police R.N. Bindumani has appealed to the public not to open suspicious links received through emails, Facebook, or other social networking platforms.
Addressing a press conference at his office, the SP said cybercriminals are misleading the public by spreading malicious and obscene content through social media. She noted that a case was registered on January 13 at the Cyber Crime Police Station regarding the circulation of obscene messages on Facebook, and that technical data related to the case is being verified.
The SP stated that cybercrime incidents have been on the rise in recent days, with fraudsters using various social media platforms to lure unsuspecting citizens. She advised victims of cyber fraud to immediately contact the cybercrime helpline number 1930 and register a complaint.
