The General Body Meeting of the Kodagu Artists’ Association, along with the swearing-in ceremony of its newly elected office-bearers for the 2026-30 term, was held at Virajpet. Artist Vanchira Vitthal Nanaiah was elected as the President of the Association. Eeramanda Harini Vijay was elected Vice-President, Kabbachira Rashmi Kariappa as Secretary, Kadyamada Suman as Treasurer, and Mallamada Shyamala Sunil as Joint Secretary.
The newly elected Directors are Someyanda S. Belyappa, Biddanda Uttam Ponnappa, Kalamanda Jagat, T.D. Mohan, Chenanda Girish Poonacha, Pattada C. Dhanu Ranjan, and Jadugar Vikram Shetty. Neravanda Umesh was appointed Convener, while Ananthashayana B.G. and Avaremadanda Sharan were appointed to the Advisory Committee.
Speaking after assuming office, newly elected President Vanchira Vitthal Nanaiah expressed his commitment to further strengthening the Association with the cooperation of its members and artists. He said efforts would be made to organize programmes that would serve the interests and welfare of artists across the district.
Vice-President Harini Vijay, Secretary Rashmi Kariappa, Directors Bose Belliappa, Ananthashayana B.G., Neravanda Umesh, Uttam, Andamada Pawan, Prabha Nanaiah, and Sanket Shivappa also addressed the gathering.
The swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected office-bearers commenced with the ceremonial watering of a plant. Senior artist and Association member Tatanda Prabha Nanaiah administered the oath of office to the newly elected committee members.
Speaking at the General Body Meeting held at the K.K. Group Hall in Virajpet, outgoing Founding President Kottukatthira Prakash Cariappa recalled the invaluable support extended by committee members, artists, and well-wishers since the Association was registered in 2021. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who had contributed to the growth and development of the organisation.
He appealed to the newly elected committee to continue receiving similar support in the years ahead and expressed hope that the Association would organise more programmes to provide opportunities for the talented artists of Kodagu. He also emphasised the need to further promote the fields of cinema, music, literature, and culture in the district.
Secretary Eeramanda Harini Vijay presented a detailed report on the various activities undertaken by the Association between 2021 and 2026, along with the audited accounts. Members also deliberated on several issues concerning the future growth and development of the Association.
Former Treasurer Ajjamakada Vinu Kushalappa, senior artist Cheruvalanda Sujala Nanaiah, National Award-winning filmmaker Kottukathira Yashoda Prakash, and artist members from different parts of the district were present.
The programme commenced with an invocation by Cheruvalanda Sujala Nanaiah. T.D. Mohan welcomed the gathering, Magician Vikram Shetty compered the programme, and Mallamada Shyamala Sunil proposed the vote of thanks.
