In a major boost to the road infrastructure development of Kodagu district, the Central Government has sanctioned a total of Rs 22 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRF) for three major state highway road development works in the district.
Welcoming this sanction, Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wodeyar, MP from Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency, thanked Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and the Government of India for responding to the long-standing road development needs of Kodagu.
Sanctioned Works
Kodlipete-Hebbale Road (SH-244)
Rs 6 crore for road development in Somwarpet taluk connecting Mullur and Malambi (selected parts) via Gopalpura-Banavar Hebbale from 16.70 to 30.00.
Madikeri-Kutta Road (SH-89)
Rs 10 crore for road development in Kushalnagar and Madikeri taluks from 4.00 to 8.00, 10.50 to 12.00 and 21.00 to 24.43.
Talakaveri Road (SH-90)
Rs 6 crore for road development in selected parts of Virajpet taluk from km. 51.00 to 61.00.
Speaking on the occasion, Yaduveer Wodeyar said that these roads are very important connectivity routes for the residents, farmers, students, tourists and business community of Kodagu district.
MP also said that the implementation of these works will not only improve road safety, passenger comfort and transport efficiency, but will also boost tourism and economic activities.
Kodagu district, one of the major tourist destinations in Karnataka, needs good quality road infrastructure to meet the growing needs of locals and tourists. He said that this grant received under the CRF will help in the upgradation of important road sections that have been waiting for development for a long time.
Yaduveer Wodeyar reiterated his commitment to bring more infrastructure investments and development projects for the comprehensive development of Mysore-Kodagu Lok Sabha constituency. He thanked the Central Government, concerned department officials and all stakeholders for their cooperation in getting this sanction.
