Take Necessary Precautions During Monsoon: Dr. N.V. Prasad

Kodagu District In-charge Secretary Dr. N.V. Prasad directed officials to undertake all necessary preparations in view of the approaching monsoon season. He was speaking at a review meeting held at the SamathryaSoudha of the Ponnampet Taluk Panchayat on Tuesday.

Dr. Prasad instructed officials to take precautionary measures in vulnerable and sensitive areas of the district. He directed that families residing in flood-prone areas be regularly informed and that all essential facilities be ensured at relief and care centres. He also instructed authorities to complete repair and renovation works of school and Anganwadi buildings that are in dangerous and dilapidated condition to prevent any mishaps during the rainy season. During the meeting, officials reviewed completed works and discussed issues related to drinking water supply. Dr. Prasad directed authorities to expedite and complete pending works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) scheme.

With the onset of the monsoon season, the Agriculture Department was instructed to ensure adequate availability of fertilizers, seeds, urea and agricultural machinery so that farmers do not face any inconvenience.

Deputy Commissioner S.J. Somashekhar informed the meeting that comprehensive preparations for the monsoon had already been undertaken in the district, including the opening of a helpline centre and appointment of nodal officers. The meeting also reviewed the progress of various departments including Animal Husbandry and Horticulture.

On the occasion, Zilla Panchayat CEO Anand Prakash Meena spoke on several issues concerning monsoon preparedness.

Deputy Conservator of Forests Jagannath N.H., Virajpet Tahsildar Praveen Kumar, Ponnampet Tahsildar C.S. Sanjana, Virajpet Town Panchayat EO Rajesh K.R., Madikeri Town Panchayat EO Shekhar, district and taluk-level officers from various departments, revenue staff and others were present.
