MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda said that the role of parents and teachers is crucial in shaping children into responsible citizens and ensuring them a bright future.

He was speaking after presenting the Sadhana Siri Award to headmasters of high schools in Kodagu district that secured 100 per cent results in the SSLC examination for the academic year 2025-26.

The programme was organised by Kannada Siri Sneha Balaga at Gandhi Bhavan in Madikeri, recently.

The MLA stated that teachers should continuously encourage and motivate students towards education and avoid actions that may discourage them emotionally or mentally. He stressed the importance of positive guidance in the educational process.

Dr. Mantar Gowda appreciated the initiative of honouring teachers and headmasters of schools that achieved 100 per cent SSLC results, noting that the contribution of teachers, headmasters, education department officials and supporting staff was significant in achieving academic success.

He also suggested organising monitoring, motivational and educational guidance programmes to help average students progress further academically.

Deputy Director of School Education Basavaraju informed that 103 schools in the district achieved 100 per cent SSLC results this year, including 38 government high schools, 11 aided schools, 37 unaided schools and 17 residential schools.

Kannada Siri Sneha Balaga President B.S. Lokesh Sagar said the organisation was working to encourage teachers and headmasters and further strengthen education standards in Kodagu district. He added that schools giving importance to Kannada language education and achieving 100 per cent results were being specially encouraged.

He said efforts were also being made to facilitate better use of libraries in such schools and emphasised the need for improving the quality of education in the district. Kushalnagar Rotary Association Assistant Governor M.D. Ragaswamy also spoke on the occasion.

Among those present were DIET Deputy Director Ramachandra Raje Aras, Social Welfare Department Deputy Director Shekhar, Field Education Officers Mahesh, M. Krishnappa and T.J. Anand, High School Co-Teachers Association President H.G. Kumar, Taluk Unit Presidents Ravi Krishna, T.R. Ratnakumar and D. Chandana, former Kasap President Kudekal Santosh, senior literary figure Kiggalu Girish of Moornadu, Monnanda Shobha Subbaiah and others.

Literary person U.R. Nagesh delivered the introductory remarks. Teacher Usharani welcomed the gathering while Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
