A foreign national was allegedly sexually assaulted at a homestay in Kutta village, Ponnampet taluk.
According to reports, the victim, a foreign national from Washington, USA, was allegedly drugged and raped by the cook at the homestay.
It is further alleged that attempts were made to suppress the incident by the owner of the homestay.
Following communication from the US Embassy, a case was registered, and the accused, along with the homestay owner, has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody until May 3rd.
Officials from the Ministry of External Affairs are currently in Kodagu to gather further information.
