A decision was taken at the Regional Transport Authority meeting, chaired by
Deputy Commissioner S.J. Somashekhar, to form a sub-committee to review the revision of auto and rental vehicle rates in the district.

Auto Drivers’ Association President Medappa highlighted that rates have not been revised for over 12 years, despite rising fuel and maintenance costs.

The Deputy Commissioner assured that decisions would be based on the sub-committee’s report. Concerns were also raised regarding overcharging by jeep operators in tourist areas.

Strict enforcement of traffic rules and safety regulations was emphasized. Discussions also covered disputes between auto and taxi associations regarding operational permissions.

Officials from transport departments, police, and various associations participated in the meeting.
