An awareness programme on “Artificial Intelligence – What Does a Real Engineer Do?” was organised by the Department of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at Coorg Institute of Technology (CIT), Ponnampet.
Renowned technology entrepreneur H. Ram Prakash, who attended as the chief guest, emphasised the growing importance of artificial intelligence in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
He stated that AI is not a threat to humanity, but rather a powerful tool that can enhance human life when used responsibly. He encouraged students to learn, practise, and adapt to AI technologies.

Presiding over the programme, Principal Dr. M. Basavaraj noted that artificial intelligence is transforming industries and urged students to leverage these opportunities to build successful careers.
Head of the Department Dr. Ramakrishna highlighted the significance of the session and encouraged students to make the most of such interactions to expand their knowledge.
Ram Prakash, who has over 17 years of experience, has been engaged in AI and machine learning research for more than a decade. He received the MIT TR35 Young Innovator Award in 2010 for developing Quillpad, a machine learning-based transliteration tool for Indian languages.
He is the founder of Cognirail Technologies and is currently working on AI-based solutions for the education sector. He is an alumnus of IIT Madras.
