Coelogyne breviscapa commonly known as: short-scaped coelogyne is a small tree-dwelling or rock-dwelling miniature to small sized orchid Native to South India, Sri Lanka.
koh-el-LAW-jin-ee — from the Greek koilos (hollow) and gyne (female) referring to the depressed stigma and brev-ee-SKAY-pa — with a short scape (flower stalk).

It is found in the forests of South India and Sri Lanka, on tree branches and on rocks in grasslands at elevations of 1800-2000 m. Flowering is during March-April.
