Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda visited the residence of Jalajakshi, who tragically lost her life in a wild elephant attack, and paid his last respects.
The MLA consoled the bereaved family members and handed over a first-stage compensation cheque of Rs 5 lakh to them. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Gowda said that human life is far more valuable than compensation.
MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda stated that strict instructions have been issued to forest department officials to immediately capture the elephant responsible for the attack. He further added that the authorities have also been directed to suggest a permanent solution to prevent human-elephant conflict in the region.
District and taluk officials, forest department staff, wildlife protection personnel and local representatives were present.
