A 43-year-old pedestrian, Manohar (Manu), a resident of Anandpur, died on the spot following a road accident near Anandpur, close to Ammathi.
According to reports, a scooty travelling from Ammathi hit Manohar as he was walking along the roadside. Due to the impact, he fell onto the road, and a car approaching from behind allegedly ran over him before fleeing the scene.
The scooty rider, identified as Hansa from Nelyahudikeri, sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to the Madikeri District Hospital for treatment.
The Siddapur police inspected the scene, registered a case, and have launched a search to trace the car involved in the incident.
