A S Ponnanna Visits Family of Elephant Attack Victim

Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor A.S. Ponnanna visited Bettathur in Madikeri taluk on Sunday to console the family of student Pooja, who was killed in a wild elephant attack.

Expressing grief over the incident, he assured the family that the government would provide appropriate compensation.

He said forest officials have been instructed to capture the lone elephant responsible for the attack and that the matter has been discussed with the Forest Minister.

A modern drone system equipped with night vision and thermal imaging has been deployed to track the elephant, and night operations are underway.

During the visit, assurances were also given that the government would examine the possibility of providing employment assistance to a family member.

District President of the Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee Dharmaja Uthappa, Girish  Kolya, Suraj Hosur, the Kodagu Circle Chief Conservator of Forests, Deputy Conservator of Forests, and other officials were present.
