A six-day AICTE-sponsored offline ATAL Faculty Development Programme on the theme “Advances in Materials and Technologies: Thermal, Mechanical and Cryogenic Applications” was inaugurated by the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Coorg Institute of Technology, Ponnampet, on December 29, 2025.
The inaugural session commenced with the lighting of the lamp and invocation. Associate Professor and FDP Co-Convenor Dr. Kishan Karumbaiah B.J. delivered the welcome address, followed by Principal and FDP Coordinator Dr. M. Basavaraj, who presented an overview of the programme.

The Chief Guest, IIT Kanpur Professor Dr. Kantesh Balani, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the importance of ethics, integrity, compassion, perspective, and ethical decision-making in professional life.
Presiding over the function, Kodava Education Association President Dr. M.C. Cariappa emphasized the growing importance of faculty development programmes in enhancing networking, academic recognition, and overall growth for both faculty and students.

Prof. Thimmaiah A.G., Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, proposed the vote of thanks, while Dr. Muthanna K.P., Associate Professor and Head of Training and Placements, conducted the programme. Faculty members and research scholars from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Punjab are participating in the FDP. The inaugural session was attended by Heads of Departments, faculty members, and students of the institute.
