Comments:

Birth and death registration is mandatory under the National Civil Registration Birth and Death Act, 1960, Karnataka Birth and Death Registration Act, 1970, and the Recast Karnataka Birth and Death Registration Act, 1990.

Since April 1, 2015, registrations have been conducted online through e-Birth software. Amendments under the Birth and Death Registration (Amendment) Act, 2023 and Karnataka Birth and Death Registration (Amendment) Act, 2024 have introduced certain changes in urban local bodies, and the public has been urged to comply accordingly.

For birth certificates (Form-1), if Aadhaar numbers of parents are unavailable in Columns 4 and 5, mobile numbers and email addresses must be provided.

For death certificates (Form-2), if Aadhaar number, date of birth, or age is unavailable in Column 6, mobile number and email address must be entered.

The Kushalnagar Municipal Birth and Death Registration Officer informed that certificates for births and deaths occurring in government hospitals, private hospitals, and homes must be issued within 21 days.
