Police register suo motu case

The district police have registered a suo motu case and arrested three youths after a video showing them allegedly abusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi with derogatory language at a spice shop in Madikeri went viral on social media.

The accused have been identified as Fahad M.E., son of Ibrahim, resident of Rani Peta, Madikeri; Basil M.H. (29), son of Husin, resident of Thyagaraja Colony; and Sameer M.M. (31), son of Majid, also a resident of Thyagaraja Colony.

All three were arrested and produced before the court.

The incident has drawn strong condemnation from the district BJP unit.
