The Kodagu district BJP staged a protest in Madikeri demanding a thorough investigation into what they termed a conspiracy behind continuous propaganda against Dharmasthala. Protesters shouted slogans against the state government in front of the district administration office, demanding action against those spreading misinformation.
District BJP President Napanda Ravi Kalappa said that false claims were being spread by vested interests. He noted that although digging was carried out based on an anonymous complaint that bodies were buried in Dharmasthala, no evidence was found. Despite this, the case was handed to the SIT without verifying the complaint.He demanded immediate arrests of those spreading false propaganda and warned of larger protests if the government failed to act.
Former Speaker K.G. Bopaiah alleged that false propaganda was being used to divide Hindus and accused the Congress government of treating Hindus as second-class citizens. Former MLC Sunil Subramani said anonymous complainants should have been investigated and arrested before handing over the case to the SIT. After the protest, BJP leaders submitted a petition to ADC Aishwarya.
