Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda recently visited the Tahsildar’s office in Ponnampet, where he reviewed land security measures and the ongoing digitization of revenue records. He was briefed on how the government is providing land documents to the public in digital format under the Bhusuraksha Yojana. The Minister emphasized that the numerous improvements introduced in the Revenue Department regarding land records must be implemented without delay. He issued strict instructions to officials to ensure that services are delivered promptly to the public by adopting modern methods for the preservation and management of land records.

Byre Gowda stressed that the adoption of new technology will help speed up the delivery of services and called upon all levels of staff to work cohesively as a team. The Minister noted that the government’s goal is for land records to be available at the fingertips of every landowner, and that the scheme will curb malpractice involving the loss, alteration, or illegal creation of records. The government plans to scan over 100 crore pages of land records across Karnataka; of these, 33.5 crore pages have already been scanned.

Byre Gowda added that landowners can apply online under the scheme or seek assistance at their nearest Nad Kacheri centre. He also addressed infrastructure initiatives, noting that it has been seven years since Ponnampet and Kushalnagar were declared new taluks. The government has now sanctioned Rs 8.65 crore each for constructing administrative buildings named Praja Soudha in both taluks. The tender process has been completed, and work will commence shortly.

Additionally, Byre Gowda announced that Rs 50 crore will be sanctioned for the construction of a retaining wall to prevent soil and hill collapses caused by heavy rains in Kodagu district. He stated that the Chief Minister has been briefed and will ensure funds are soon released to the PD account of the Kodagu Deputy Commissioner under the natural calamities head. “The landholders will be provided with full rights to protect their land. Repairs will be carried out where needed, including infrastructure that is 30-40 years old. A permanent solution will be provided,” the Minister said.

Chief Minister’s Legal Advisor and Virajpet MLA A.S. Ponnanna shared details about rain-damaged areas, the construction sites of the Taluk Administration buildings, and the bridge near Ballyamandur. Later, the Minister visited the Sakala Yojana Centre at Ballyamandur Gram Panchayat to gather information on the services being provided to citizens.

Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja briefed the Minister on several revenue-related issues, including land record preservation and Sakala Yojana implementation. ZP CEO Anand Prakash Meena, Guarantee Scheme Implementation Committee District Unit President Dharmaja Uthappa, Tahsildar Mohan Kumar, PWD Executive Engineer Ibrahim, ZP Executive Engineer G.K. Nayak, Assistant Executive Engineer Sathish, and officials from various departments were present.
