Coorg Public School hosted the CISCE Zonal Level Chess Competition recently a prestigious event that brought together some of the brightest young minds in the zone. The game’s blend of strategy, skill, and mental challenge continues to captivate millions around the world.The event was declared open by Dr. M Ramachandran, Principal Coorg Public School. His presence added a special significance to the competition, underlining the importance of intellectual pursuits in education alongside extracurricular activities.
The tournament witnessed intense competition, with over 8 schools participating across various categories. The level of play was exceptionally high, reflecting the dedication and preparation of the participants. Each match was a testament to the strategic brilliance and tactical prowess that chess demands, with many games being decided by the narrowest of margins.

Among the standout performances was P H Adhruth Sharma U-17 Boys [Coorg Public School], Anisha H Devadiga U-17 Girls, [Udgam School], Likith G V – U-14 Boys [General Thimmaiah] and Yukta Accamma U-14 Girls [KALS].
The Host School emerged as the team champions in U-17 Both Boys and Girls and in U-14 Girls Category. This achievement not only highlights individual talents but also underscores the strength of the School’s chess programme.
