Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja, during a preliminary meeting on district development works held at his office hall in Madikeri, instructed concerned officers to strictly provide information on applications submitted under the Sakala Act within the prescribed time limit.

The DC emphasized that the government takes these applications seriously, and officers must respond promptly. If the requested work cannot be completed at their level, a support letter should be issued instead of delaying or harassing the applicant.

“Officials should put themselves in the shoes of applicants who await timely responses under the Sakala Act,” the DC said, warning that failure to provide information on time would result in fines. He advised officials to avoid unnecessary delays and perform their duties systematically.

He also emphasized that if officials work from 10 am to 6 pm on duty days (excluding lunch hours), public work could be efficiently managed despite pressure. He called for strong willpower among officials in this regard.

All officers and staff must be present in the office during the assembly session, and information requested by the government must be submitted promptly. The DC highlighted the possibility of monsoon arriving in the last week of May and directed officials to prepare adequately as done previously, working as a team in accordance with government guidelines. Records should be properly maintained.

He further instructed departmental officers to immediately submit audit-related reports pending submission to the Accountant General.

With the new financial year beginning, the DC urged departments to initiate necessary programs and ensure measurable progress. On this occasion, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of various departments and student hostels.

Additional Deputy Commissioner R. Aishwarya also emphasized that departmental officers should provide detailed information about developmental works in their respective jurisdictions.

Several officials including Assistant Commissioner Vinayak Narvade, District Deputy Secretary Abdul Nabi, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr. Satish Kumar, District Surgeon Dr. Nanjundaya, and officers from various departments such as Urban Development, Backward Classes Welfare, Youth Empowerment and Sports, Labour, Revenue, Education, Agriculture, CESC, and Women and Child Development shared updates on their departments.
