Virajpet BJP spokesperson Cheppudira Rakesh Devaiah has demanded that the police should immediately arrest Congress district spokesperson Thenira Maina, since his name was mentioned in the death note in connection with the suicide case of BJP worker Vinay.
In a press release, Rakesh Devaiah mentioned that the court has dismissed Thenira Maina’s anticipatory bail application and the police should immediately take action and arrest him.
It is well known that the Karnataka State Police is known for its efficiency and is highly respected in the country. They have become a hero by cracking many complex case. However, even a month after Vinay committed suicide, the prominent person Thenira Maina, who was mentioned in the death note, has not been arrested. A video of Maina who was dancing at a village festival has gone viral. He questioned why Maina, who was seen at a village festival was not arrested by the police.
In a release he further informed that it is apparent that there is pressure on the police in the Vinay suicide case. If the police had acted independently without political pressure, Maina would have been arrested by now. It is becoming clear that the police are in a helpless position, and if permission is given, the public will locate Maina and hand him over to the police.
The police are showing laxity in this case. When somebody files a complaint because of someone commented on a issue or discussed it in social media, they are quick to take action. But in this case they seem to not care, he said
He further added that recently, a man in Murnad attacked a female PSI on duty in the middle of the road. But despite video evidence, no action has been taken against him. In this case too, political influence has worked. The police have become mute spectators . They have alleged that it is impossible to perform their duties within the scope of the law.
Vinay’s family has been orphaned by his suicide, his wife is crying with a three-month-old baby. If justice has to be served for Vinay’s death, Thennira Maina must be arrested. Opposition leaders should also pressure the state government by demanding his arrest. Rakesh Devaiah has warned that if the police do not arrest Maina immediately, Virajpet BJP workers will take to the streets and protest.
