Police arrested an accused for smuggling illicit drug in a tooth paste

Recently police  arrested  an  accused Surbeel (26) for smuggling  illicit drug inside a toothpaste tube to be handed over to his brother an under trial prisoner, at the  Madikeri district prison.

It is reported that the accused Surbeel from Kannur of Kerala, claimed to be the brother of Sanam, brought toothpaste, soaps, oil and shampoo to hand it over to his brother.  While inspection by  the  Jail Superintendent, a black colour liquid coming out of tooth paste was noticed. After suspecting foul play Jail Superintendent confirmed it as a illicit drug. After investigation it was found that the accused  had  removed the content of the toothpaste tube and replacing it with hashish to hand it over to Sanam.

Based on Jail Superintendent complaint, the accused has been arrested and 24 grams of hashish was seized, the police said. A case has been registered at the Madikeri Rural Police Station.
