Thousands of devotees witness Holy Cauvery “Theerthodhbava”

Cauvery Theerthodhbhava occurred in Talacauvery at 7:40 a.m. in Tulalagna recently in the midst of the joy of the devotees.

On the occasion of holy Theerthodhbhava the priests sprinkled the holy water from the sacred Brahmakundike on the devotees. Mother Cauvery appeared as the goddess in the middle of chanting.

Traditional poojas were held to Cauvery Mata by priests led by chief priest Prashant Achar.

Thousands of people, eagerly awaited this once-in-a-year, a rare moment, sitting throughout the night. The event marked the beginning of the month-long Cauvery Sankramana festival at the sacred site.

Before the Theerthodbhava, devotees rushed to the ‘Kalyani’, the sacred pond with pots and cans to collect the holy water.  Devotees from different parts of the state were seen   praising Mother Cauvery as they walked barefoot in traditional attire from Bhagamandala to Talacauvery in late hours.

District in-charge Minister N S Boseraju, Virajpet MLA and Chief Minister’s legal advisor AS Ponnanna, Madikeri MLA Dr Mantar Gowda, MLC Suja Kushalappa, Guarantee Scheme Anushtana Committee President Dhamaja Uthappa, Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Venkat Raja, District Superintendent of Police K. Ramarajan, ASP Sundar Raj, Additional Deputy Commissioner Aishwarya and many others were present on the occasion of holy Cauvery Theerthodhbhava.
