Kodagu Deputy Commissioner (DC)Dr Venkat Raja chairing the Regional Transport Authority meeting held at his office recentlyhas advised the Private Bus Owners’ Association to provide written information, if they have any objections to granting permission for KSRTC bus services, on 64 routes in Kodagu district.
He instructed the Private Bus Owners Association to provide information well in advance, since the next meeting would be held by the end of October.
It is reported that a survey has already been conducted by the Regional Transport Department regarding the operation of KSRTC buses based on public demand.
He said that accurate information should be provided on how private bus operations will be affected. Everyone should act jointly with a cooperative spirit, the DC said. Everyone should follow government rules regarding bus services. It should be convenient for the public, students, and everyone, he added.
Lawyers, speaking on behalf of the Private Bus Owners’ Association, demanded that buses should operate every half an hour as per the bus schedule. Ramesh Joyappa, president of the Private Bus Owners Association, appealed that private buses should be given more priority, as they are operating in loss, after Covid-19 pandemic.
Jaishant, DTO of KSRTC, appealed that permission should be given for KSRTC bus services on 64 routes in Kodagu district, according to public demand. There is a lot of demand from the public for more number of KSRTC buses in Kodagu district. District Superintendent of Police K Ramarajan, Regional Transport Officer Nagarajachar and others attended the meeting.
