Smart cards to be distributed for workers of unorganized sectors

For distribution of smart cards, a consultation meeting was held recently to identify the workers working in various unorganized sectors and to get the data of the members registered in the organizations.

Taluk Labor Officer M.A.Yatnatti,  Senior Labor Inspector, Madikeri Circle, speaking  after  presiding over the meeting informed that 23  unorganized categories like “porters, domestic workers, rag pickers, tailors, weavers, goldsmiths, blacksmiths, potters, barbers, kiln workers, delivery workers engaged in gig work, daily newspaper delivery workers, cine workers, weavers, street vendors, hotel workers, photographers,  freelance writers, all workers working in Kalyana Mantapa/Sabha Bhavan/Tent/Pendals, beedi workers and unorganized specially abledworkers, nomadic unorganized workers and motor transport and other allied workers (including mechanics) similarly, drivers of  Karnataka Motor Transport booking clerk, cash clerk, depot clerk, timekeeper, watchman or attendant, station loading/unloading staff, motor garage staff, tire mounting and uncoupling staff, puncture repair shop workers, wheel balancing and alignment staff, vehicle cleaning unit staff, motor vehicle bodywork in manufacturing plants, tinkering, electrical and he  further explained that the staff workers in the AC units are being registered separately under the Karnataka State Motor Transport and other related workers welfare development board and are being given smart cards.

In coming days the above 23 unorganized sector workers, will get accident compensation facility, natural death compensation (funeral grant) and educational assistance to children of motor transport and other related workers due to accidental death, natural death, deceased motor transport and other related workers under the Karnataka Motor Transport and Other Related Workers Welfare Board. He also said that educational assistance for children, maternity assistance for women workers and other facilities will also be provided.

On this occasion, the leaders of various labor organizations Girish, Sheikh Ahmed, Vijay, MT Madhu, Lavakumar, Avarthy R. Mahadevappa, Kiran, Rashik, Santosh S, B S Ramesh, Medappa, Samad, Sulaiman Virajpet Circle Senior Labor Inspector Nikhil Chandra P M, Somwarpet Circle Senior Labor Inspector Shashidhar S, Unorganized Workers Social Security Council Data Entry Operator Vani M.G and department staff were also present on the occasion.
