Guideline for celebrations of Gauri and Ganesha festival in public

On the occasion of celebration of Gauri and Ganesha festival which is coming shortly, the organizers before installing Gauri and Ganesha idols in public areas, the committees should take permission from the concerned departments regarding pandal, electricity connection etc. The organizers   should use eco-friendly Gauri-Ganesha idols which are plain clay instead of idols made from environment-damaging materials such as Plaster of Paris with toxic chemical metal coating should not be used.

According to the government order, it is mandatory to submit a cover on Rs.100 stamp paper before getting permission from the City Municipal Council. Otherwise, as per Section 33(a) of the Water Pollution (Prevention and Control) Act, 1974, a fine of up to Rs.10,000 will be imposed and in addition to imprisonment also. It is necessary to organise programs so as not to disturb the public and vehicular traffic.

In Madikeri the CMC hasidentified the Gouri lake near the Omkareshwar temple and done necessary arrangements for the immersion of Ganapathi idols.  The committees should take care of separating flowers and fruits from the idol before immersing and in case of violation, action will be taken as per law, the CMC commissioner informed. Commissioner also requested to submit   applications for permission at the earliest to avoid last minute rush.
