MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda recently visited and inspected the rain damaged areas of Mallikarjuna Nagar and Thyagaraja Colony in Madikeri.
After inspecting the wall collapse due to heavy rains, the MLA directed the revenue department officials to immediately release compensation as per NDRF and SDRF guidelines.
MLA informed that there is a possibility of more rain in the coming days, so the residents here should be more careful. The MLA also listened to the grievances of the locals on the occasion.
Later, the MLA visited the waste plant site near Stewart Hill in Madikeri and directed the revenue and municipal authorities to identify a replacement site as there is a case of present land in High Court. He instructed the authorities to take necessary steps to develop this space. Madikeri Municipal Commissioner Vijay, Environmental Engineer Soumya, AEE Hemant Kumar and others were present on the occasion.
Subsequently the MLA visited the post-metric girls’ hostel in Madikeri and listened to the complaints of the students. He instructed authorities to keep hostel clean and advised students to focus more on education. The MLA on the occasion said that if there are any problems, information should be provided. Deputy Director of Social Welfare Department Shekhar and others were present on this occasion.
Earlier, MLA Mantar Gowda, received complaints at his office from the public at Madikeri Zilla Panchayat. Speaking on the occasion MLA said that by listening to the public’s grievances local problems will be solved step by step. On the occasion many residents appealed to the MLAs to provide houses and land.
He also informed that as announced by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the budget speech of the current year, the government has issued an order for allocating new 150 new hostels for post-metric boys and girls with a strength of 100 each in the state under the Department of Backward Classes Welfare.
With the efforts of Chief Minister’s Legal Adviser A.S. Ponnanna and himself, the government has given permission to start two post-metric student hostels in Kodagu district, he added.
