Justice Cheppudira Monnappa Poonacha appointed as Additional Judge of Karnataka High Court

Justice Cheppudira Monnappa Poonacha was earlier appointed as Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court for a period of two years from 13-06-2022. Subsequently the High Court collegium headed by the Chief Justice of Karnataka on 20-01-2024, recommended for Justice C M Poonacha to be appointed as permanent Judge of the High Court of Karnataka and the same was agreed to by the Chief Minister and Governor of Karnataka.

Thereafter, the Supreme Court collegium headed by the Chief Justice of India, Dr. D Y Chandrachud, after taking into consideration the opinion rendered by the High Court as well as after evaluation of various criteria as noticed in its detailed resolution dated 03-04-2024 recommended to the Union Government for appointment of Justice C M Poonacha as permanent judge of the High Court of Karnataka.

Pursuant to the same, the Union Govt vide its Notification dated 15-04-2024 confirmed the same and the Hon’ble President of India has issued the appointment warrant appointing Justice C M Poonacha as permanent judge of the High Court of Karnataka.

The swearing in ceremony of Justice C M Poonacha as permanent judge of the High Court of Karnataka was held on 16-04-2024 at the Karnataka High Court.
