Section 144 imposed in Kodagu on account of Lok Sabha election

To conduct transparent, smooth and peaceful polling of Lok Sabha Elections-2024 in Kodagu district and to maintain law and order during this period as defined under Section 126 of the Peoples Representation Act 1951 and Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code 1973 Kodagu Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Venkat Raja has issued an order to impose section 144 across Kodagu district from 5 pm on April 24th to 5 pm on April 26th.

During this period, it is prohibited to hold any election meeting, procession or other program, display of any election material to the public through photography, television or other similar equipment, except for canvassing for the party by the candidate or workers from door to door. It is prohibited for candidates or workers to bring voters to and fro to the polling station by vehicle. Gathering/travelling in groups of more than five people is also strictly prohibited.

Deputy commissioner Venkat Raja also informed that 200 meters around all polling booths is a restricted area, parking of private vehicles, use of loudspeakers etc. is prohibited in these areas and campaigning in favor of candidates, voter wooing etc. within 100 meters of polling booths is completely prohibited.
