Important decision taken to introduce robotic surgery for the first time in Kodagu district
The 16th Governing Board meeting of the Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences, Madikeri, was recently held at Vikas Soudha, Bengaluru, under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble Minister for Medical Education, Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil. Madikeri MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda attended the meeting and discussed the development of the institution. Several important decisions were taken during the meeting.
A major decision was made to procure equipment to introduce robotic surgery for the first time in Kodagu district. It was also decided to purchase robotic surgery equipment for the Orthopaedics Department and to acquire a mammography unit to facilitate tests for the early detection and prevention of breast cancer.
The Board instructed officials to review the progress of the ongoing building works and ensure their completion within the specified timeframe. It was also resolved to fill vacant doctor positions through direct recruitment and to deliberate on various developmental aspects of the institution.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr. Mantar Gowda offered suggestions for the overall development of the Kodagu Institute of Medical Sciences.
